Craig is highly experienced in commercial and taxation law, with a diverse and specialised set of skills developed from years of exposure to unique and complex clients and transactions across a range of industries.
Having acted for numerous large commercial and not-for-profit clients, Craig is known for identifying and guiding clients through the challenges their projects are likely to present and the opportunities and tax savings available. In doing so, Craig has particular regard to the advantages and regulatory constraints that apply to clients in these different categories and industry groups.
With a particular focus on the property development and not-for-profit/charity industries, Craig remains actively engaged with relevant regulators, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of current issues and forthcoming changes likely to affect these industries.
“Getting to know what drives my clients and their outcomes excites me. Understanding these drivers makes me best placed to navigate the smoothest path to their desired outcomes.”
Residential property developments – providing structuring advice on a number of large residential projects in the Melbourne CBD and land subdivision projects across Victoria, including a mixed use development involving a ground level church that has accompanying taxation and charity considerations.
Foreign investors – providing advice to foreign based investors looking to develop land or acquire such for long term holding (on all stages of the acquisition/holding cycle), including the ideal inbound investment structure, relevant FIRB considerations, the application of stamp duty and land tax surcharges and the seeking of exemptions from those regimes.
Not-for-profit projects – advising a number of community foundations regarding restructuring proposals to segregate their different charitable undertakings, predominantly their heavily regulated education/school undertakings from their broader charitable undertakings.
