meet Craig

about Craig

Craig enjoys a challenge, a trait that drew him to taxation law. He thrives on the constant challenge tax law presents, and the never-ending exposure to new issues.

Craig takes the opportunity to absorb all he can from his clients, understanding that in their unique industries it can be the small details that make a big difference in the solution provided. This means Craig’s clients enjoy peace of mind, knowing they can wholeheartedly trust the advice Craig provides from his extensive client and industry knowledge.

Craig is heavily involved in the not for profit sector where he helps his clients implement a commercial mindset meaning they are better placed to achieve their charity goals. His breadth of commercial experience sets him apart in this sector, bringing a level of sophistication that sees Craig recognise the important details as well as the major opportunities available.

“It’s all about helping clients achieve their goals. Whether it’s a business or a charity client, it’s really exciting to see where they can go.”

recent experience

  • establishing an australian subsidiary charity

Craig worked with an American based charity to establish an Australian subsidiary charity focused on advancing education and the environment through permaculture. Navigating the client through the tax and regulatory issues, Craig assisted with everything from the organisational structure, the structure of the offshore flow of initial funding, to the acquisition of farm land in Bryon Bay that became the charity’s educational base. This not only required Craig’s experience in charity law but touched on foreign investment law, property ownership structuring, stamp duty and general commercial law.

  • governing legislation update

Craig advised a major charity established as a statutory body corporate, through the update of its governing legislation. This matter saw Craig liaising with Parliamentary legislative draftsmen, providing comments on core concepts relative to the client’s operations, as well as reviewing and commenting on the draft Bills circulated. With Craig’s assistance, the client’s lobbying updates saw the passing of more practical and flexible governing legislation for the client’s future operations.
