Iresha Herath

special counsel

meet Iresha

about Iresha

When she’s not running an independent theatre company or writing children’s books, Iresha Herath is solving her clients’ complex property matters.

Iresha started her legal career as an articled clerk at Macpherson Kelley 20 years ago. It was here that her interest in infrastructure and property law was first sparked and it has been a focus that has continued throughout her career. With a love of being involved in negotiations, Iresha is thrilled when she is able to settle matters and see projects come to fruition for her clients.

With experience spanning time in a top tier law firm as a Senior Associate, working as an infrastructure advisor to a State Government minister and in-house as a General Counsel, Iresha has developed unique commercial skills and a deep understanding of the client perspective. This, coupled with her strong, strategic view of the law, allows her to deliver commercially robust advice.

“Clients often have a clear view of what they want. It’s our job to not only provide them with proper and robust legal advice but to provide them with a solution. If it can’t be exactly what they originally wanted, we need to find them an alternative that is still a commercially strong solution.”
