Two Macpherson Kelley lawyers reappointed to the board of Australia Malaysia Business Council Victoria
Two senior lawyers from Macpherson Kelley’s Commercial and Litigation teams have been reappointed to the board of the Australia Malaysia Business Council Victoria (AMBC).
Principal Lawyer Nathanael Kitingan and Special Counsel Meileng Tam were returned to the board, with Nathanael also re-confirmed as Vice President.
“Being a part of the AMBC is a great opportunity to add value to Australian businesses with a connection to ASEAN and Malaysia. I’m honoured and excited to serve on the board again, particularly in these challenging times,” Nat, who lived in Malaysia for a number of years, said.
Malaysia is one of Australia’s top 10 trading partners with two-way trade worth $25 billion in 2018-19.
The AMBC Victoria helps bring together businesses in Malaysia and Australia to identify opportunities for investment through support, networking and building bridges between industries and government.
Meileng, who has also lived and worked in Malaysia, said there were strong institutional and personal links between Australia and Malaysia.
“There has always been a connection between Australia and Malaysia and the soft power policy of continuous interaction cannot be underrated,” she said.
