migration

Australia’s immigration laws are challenging. They are constantly changed and amended by parliament, directly affecting existing visa holders in Australia as well as those wishing to come here to work, live or be with family.

It’s why if you’re a business wanting to hire skilled employees from overseas or considering immigrating you need to consult with experienced immigration lawyers early. Knowing how to navigate the bureaucracy of immigration in a timely and efficient way is key securing visas.

Our team, consisting of immigration law specialists, can assist with a whole range of immigration issues, from sponsoring a partner or family member to come visit or live with you in Australia to dealing with complex issues, such as a visa refusal or cancellation. Our lawyers also have extensive experience with protection visas, Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) matters and Judicial Review.

recent experience

  • employing skilled foreign workers

Macpherson Kelley acted for a meat processing company negotiating an industry agreement with the Commonwealth Government to allow it to hire skilled foreign abattoir workers. The company had been operating at 60-70 percent capacity, as it couldn’t find skilled workers locally. We negotiated with the Commonwealth to allow the company to access a program allowing it to hire workers from overseas who would otherwise be ineligible to work in Australia. The company was able to bring the workers to Australia and increase both production and profitability.
