Macpherson Kelley expands national team with three senior appointments across Property, Litigation, and Tax
Macpherson Kelley is delighted to announce the appointment of three senior positions, strengthening its national team across multiple practice areas.
Taking on the role of Principal Lawyer in the Brisbane Property team, Brad Marland is an experienced practitioner in commercial, industrial, and retail property law. His practice encompasses real estate funds, leasing, solar farm agreements, and retirement village developments. Brad is also passionate about assisting First Nations businesses and students to succeed and thrive, being closely involved in initiatives like Independent Indigenous Tourism Operators of Queensland, Birrunga Gallery, and Yalari.
Also, joining the Brisbane office as Special Counsel in the Litigation team, James Lovel brings over 12 years of post-qualified experience. He has advised and acted for diverse clients, from consumers and small businesses to large franchises, property developers and public companies. Known for his leadership in high-stakes cases, James has a strong track record in commercial litigation, including franchise disputes, taxation disputes, and property-related litigation.
Thomas Abraham joins the firm as Special Counsel in the Tax team. Thomas will strengthen the firm’s national Taxation team with his deep experience in Australia-wide state taxation and dispute resolution. Thomas has handled complex litigation on behalf of the Commissioner of State Revenue, making him a trusted advisor in state taxation matters. His practice covers a wide range of tax services, including land tax, duties, payroll tax, and congestion levy matters, assisting clients with exemption applications, investigations, and appeals. Thomas will be based in Macpherson Kelley’s Melbourne office.
