Macpherson Kelley has partnered with international privacy advice organisation PrivacyRules, giving clients access to privacy, data protection and cybersecurity expertise from around the world.

Macpherson Kelley is the only Australian law firm member of PrivacyRules.

“Online privacy and cybersecurity are some of the biggest issues affecting businesses around the world,” Macpherson Kelley Legal Practice Principal Paul Kirton said.

“With so much business and personal activity done online today, managing and protecting data are key considerations for everyone.”

Governments are responding to online threats and introducing laws to protect consumers and business.

In Australia data breach reporting laws have come into effect while in Europe the GDPR rules are now in force.

“Being part of PrivacyRules gives us and our clients access to on-the-ground legal and technical expertise in countries where our clients are operating,” Paul said.

“At the same time we can offer our expertise to overseas companies wanting to set up in Australia through the PrivacyRules alliance.”
