Macpherson Kelley welcomes two Special Counsels
Macpherson Kelley is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Special Counsels, bolstering the talents of their Property and Family Law teams. Ben Webster was recently appointed to the Property team in Brisbane and Sheryl Barker has joined the Family Law team in Victoria.
Renowned for his dedication to building strong client relationships, Ben Webster brings a client base of his own to the Property team, laying the groundwork to service a market that shows no sign of slowing down.
Principal Lawyer Melanie Gebbels says that Ben’s commercial background and experience working on diverse and complex matters will lend itself well to the team’s upcoming priorities for 2023.
“The breadth of Ben’s existing expertise will help us expand our current capabilities out of the Brisbane office but it’s not the only reason we’re so pleased to have Ben join,” said Melanie Gebbels.
“Our Brisbane office holds an exceptionally high standard of client service, so when we heard about Ben’s passion for straight-talking advice and client service excellence – we knew we had the right fit.”
Ben’s clients have included listed companies, banks, private property developers, property trusts, private corporations, partnerships, and individual investors.
Sheryl Barker has already established herself amongst Macpherson Kelley’s Family Law client base as go-to advisor that cares deeply about resolving family law disputes in a calm and measured fashion. Having worked previously with Principal Lawyer Brendan Herbert, Brendan knew that Sheryl had the temperament and skill to seamlessly fit in to the Family Law team.
“Sheryl is just another invaluable resource for clients seeking to resolve family law disputes in a manner that is both compassionate and outcome focussed. Sheryl has that unique ability to validate a client’s experience while simultaneously providing purpose-driven advice that deescalates what is often a stressful experience,” said Brendan Herbert.
Sheryl has specialised experience in complex children’s arrangements, parenting disputes, family violence issues and property matters involving company trusts and third parties.
With no shortage of Property and Family Law matters coming through the door, the firm is thrilled to welcome both to the roster.
