recent experience

  • Post-Separation asset protection

A client approached us wanting to settle financial matters with their former partner, without the need to go to Court. Georgia Buck assisted the client in reaching an agreement with their former spouse through a Binding Financial Agreement. She prepared an Agreement that was advantageous to the client and enabled them to retain a significant amount of the property pool including real estate, funds held in the bank and superannuation entitlements.

Georgia has also prepared Financial Agreements for clients entering into new relationships before marriage and clients who are married and want to protect their assets in the event of separation.

  • Complex property issues

A client asked for assistance when their former partner would not participate in meaningful discussions about a just and equitable property settlement. Georgia Buck was able to negotiate with the former partner’s lawyers and reach a settlement between the parties at Mediation, saving the parties time, costs and stress. Our client achieved a very favourable outcome that allowed them to retain many of the assets of the relationship and move on with their life.

  • Intervention order proceedings

Georgia Buck assisted a client in removing an unreasonable clause in an Intervention Order against them. The Intervention Order prohibited our client from attending his place of work, which we thought was unreasonable. Georgia filed an Application to Vary with the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria. The Court agreed with our position, the Intervention Order was varied to allow our client to continue working and earning a living.

  • Parenting Matters

Georgia Buck was assisting a client whose former partner unreasonably prevented our client from spending substantial time with their children. Georgia negotiated with the lawyers acting for the other party and an interim agreement was reached that suited both parties and most importantly, the children.

It is important that children have the opportunity to have a meaningful relationship with both of their parents. Georgia has extensive experience in mitigating the effect parenting proceedings can have on the relationships within the families she works with.
