Grant Guenther is the National Managing Principal of Macpherson Kelley. He likens the world of commercial transactions to an adrenaline sport – it’s fast paced and commands accuracy and good judgement. He acknowledges each transaction requires trust he will keep things running smoothly and achieve successful outcomes.
He’s built this trust, through consistent interactions with a range of clients from private owners, to large corporates and multinationals, always putting himself in their shoes and understanding the business goals for each transaction. He takes the complication out of a transaction by guiding clients through the complexities of a deal and focusing on outcomes – not getting too caught up in the technical elements, at least not when communicating with clients.
“My job is to back my clients and support them to achieve their commercial objectives – not to get in the way. Understanding the commercial aspect of the decision and helping my clients make that call is what they expect.”
Grant acted for Blue Cross in its merger with Sapphire Care, making it one of the largest aged care providers in Victoria. This included initial strategic discussions, due diligence with a team of advisors, contract preparation, negotiation and execution, completion and post completion integration and filings. Our approach to materiality and overall commercial mentality enabled a faster and clearer due diligence process and a substantial deal was completed more simply than its complexity promised.
Grant provided due diligence advice and acted on the eventual sale of, Jensens, a substantial Australian based manufacturer of organic certified foods and other FMCG’s to a subsidiary of a Scottish owned multinational food manufacturer.
Grant acted for a multinational crop protection/pest management company in their strategic investment in a Queensland businesses unique and patented pesticide and worldwide distribution rights.
Grant acted for a large real estate agent in its acquisition of the Kliger Wood business making it the largest commercial real estate agent in Victoria.
Grant acted for a global vegetation clearing company in its acquisition of a substantial competitor in far north Queensland.
Grant acted for Canadian company, Hunter Amenities in its acquisition of Australian amenity manufacturer and distributor, Concept Amenities, making it one of the largest amenity manufacturers in the world.
