Real Estate Update – Victorian Roadmap
Sunday’s announcement from Premier Daniel Andrews will provide some relief for our clients who are selling, buying or leasing.
Private inspections for the purchase or leasing of residential properties can recommence from 11:59 pm on Sunday 27 September 2020. The following rules will apply in relation to the inspections:
- The inspections will be one-on-one with an agent
- Dependants and a partner may also attend
- Limited to 15 minutes
- The 5km rule does not apply when inspecting a house for rent or purchase
- Individuals can only leave their home for a maximum of 2 hours to attend the inspection (and cannot travel into regional Victoria)
- If occupied then the occupier must leave the property
- Landscaping and garden maintenance businesses have been added to the permitted worker list.
Another important announcement from Premier Andrews was that details of the next “step” will now be announced on October 19, as opposed to the original planned date of October 26. Provided that COVID-19 case numbers continue to fall, it’s anticipated that this announcement will see the further easing of restrictions, including the re-introduction of outdoor auctions (subject to gathering limits).
As it stands, public home opens and auctions are still subject to the current restrictions and will continue online, as will commercial inspections.
