The Residential Tenancies Amendment Act 2018 was due to commence on 1 July 2020 but was delayed to 29 March 2021 due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

The changes are the biggest reforms to residential tenancy legislation since the introduction of the Residential Tenancies Act in 1997 with over 130 changes being made to the Act.
