modern awards under repair: fair work commission makes changes to manufacturing award and vehicle award
Thirty-one modern awards are being ‘extensively varied’ following the Fair Work Commission’s recent four-yearly review.
This includes significant changes to the Manufacturing and Associated Industries Occupation Award 2010 (Manufacturing Award) and the Vehicle Manufacturing, Repair, Services and Retail Award 2010 (Vehicle Award), from 4 May 2020.
In particular, the Commission has determined that the manufacturing section of the Vehicle Award will be moved into the Manufacturing Award, aimed at reducing the Vehicle Award’s current complexity.
When the changes take effect, employees previously covered by sections 2 to 4 of the Vehicle Award, namely vehicle manufacturing employees, draft and technical employees and supervisory employees, will be covered by the Manufacturing Award.
This change will affect award coverage for many employers in the motor vehicle industry, and as a result, pay and other terms and conditions for employees will change, and their employment documentation will need to be updated.
If you require assistance understanding how these changes will affect your business and to update your employment documentation, or if you require our assistance with award coverage and compliance more generally, please contact our Employment, Safety and Migration team.
