Macpherson Kelley strengthens Brisbane capability with senior litigation and private client appointments
Macpherson Kelley is pleased to announce the appointment of Katrina Pagey as a Principal Lawyer in its Litigation & Dispute Resolution team, alongside Lucie Marsden who joins as Special Counsel in the firm’s Wills & Estates practice. Both are based in Brisbane.
These additions mark a further step in the firm’s strategic growth in Queensland, strengthening its dispute resolution capability and building on the continued expansion of its national private client offering, following the recent appointment of Principal Lawyer Tammy Sava in Adelaide.
Katrina is an experienced commercial litigator with a strong track record in complex, large-scale commercial litigation disputes, with a particular focus on corporate insolvency. She advises on a broad range of commercial disputes, including contract disputes, recovery actions and director and shareholder disputes. In the corporate insolvency context, Katrina has advised insolvency practitioners, banks and creditors in relation to both formal and informal restructuring engagements. Those engagements include advising receiverships and various aspects of external administrations. Her practice spans cross‑border insolvency matters and international arbitration. Katrina is admitted to the Supreme Courts of Queensland and New South Wales and is a practitioner in the High Court of Australia.
Lucie brings more than 20 years of experience advising high‑net‑worth individuals, families and professional advisers on estate planning and succession matters. She specialises in wills and trust structuring, SMSF succession, asset protection and planning for blended families, with a background in accounting and tax that supports integrated, strategic advice. She is admitted in Queensland and in England & Wales and is a Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP).
National Managing Principal Grant Guenther said the appointments reflect Macpherson Kelley’s continued investment in core practice areas and nationally connected capability.
“Investing in high‑calibre lawyers like Katrina and Lucie is central to our growth strategy. Their expertise strengthens our offering and ensures we continue to deliver clear, commercially focused advice to our clients,” Grant said.
Brisbane Managing Principal Lawyer Cathy Russo said the hires support the continued growth of the Brisbane office.
“We are seeing increasing demand from clients for practical advice across both disputes and private client matters. Katrina and Lucie bring the experience and approach needed to meet that demand,” Cathy said.
Together, these appointments further strengthen Macpherson Kelley’s national capability, providing clients with integrated, commercially informed advice across business and private client matters.
