Significant matters

Food manufacturer – provided advice on a large debt matter and worked with the client to develop a strategy to recover the debt and maintain the client’s business relationship with the debtor.  We were able to recover the entire debt on terms agreeable to the client, while protecting the relationship between the parties for future trade.

Victorian Local Council – provided urgent advice on closure notices and was later involved in prosecuting the proprietor. The matter achieved one of the highest recorded penalties against an individual in Victoria.

Victorian Local Council – defended proceedings issued against the council for allegedly failing to investigate a nuisance under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act, a first of its kind in Victoria. The case was abandoned by the applicant, who paid Council’s costs.
